Walmart Marketplace is a threat to whole food traders? Amazon VS Walmart?

Walmart is enlarged it is fleet of smaller-format stores in American states called walmart Neighborhood markets.

Walmart Marketplace is an online marketplace offering a wide range of products, including groceries, apparel, and home goods. The company has been expanding its business by offering its own products through its website. This is the first time that Walmart has entered the market of selling groceries online.

Amazon’s Prime membership fee is $99 per year, while Walmart’s membership fee is $50 per year. Both companies offer free two-day shipping on over 20 million items sold on their respective websites. Walmart’s Marketplace offers more than 2 million items, which include groceries and household items. However, Amazon has more than 100 million items in its store and offers free two-day shipping for eligible products sold by third-party sellers on Amazon marketplace only.

Walmart Marketplace is a platform that allows customers to purchase groceries from local businesses. Customers can find and buy groceries in their area, which may be convenient if they live in small towns with limited grocery options. However, the platform has been criticized for its loss of small businesses and independent vendors.

The reason why it is being criticized is that Walmart Marketplace takes away business from small business owners who are trying to make a living selling their goods or services. The company argues that they are offering an opportunity for customers to buy what they need at a lower price than if they had shopped at the local grocery store.

Walmart Neighborhood market has become very popular among consumers who want to save money on groceries but don’t have time to go shopping every day or even every week. It has made it easier for people who are looking for healthy foods without having to worry about whether or not their local grocery store carries those items in stock. But this also means that there are fewer jobs available for people who work in grocery stores because customers do not need as much help picking out.

The other traders of food like whole foods, Trader Joe’s, and Kroger feel, they are traditional supermarkets and feel like threats to Walmart because these markets are the one-fifth size of Walmart, according to Moody’s analyst. The advantage of Walmart Neighborhood markets ideology will be very difficult to retreat. The markets are like small super-stores. The interior of some supercenters is very similar to the big Walmart warehouses, with fluorescent lighting, wide aisles, and exposed ceiling beams. The mini supercenters offer the same price of food items as Walmart’s big warehouse stores but are easily accessible locations Walmart Neighborhood markets give a competitive advantage over virtual stores. The markets focus on the strongest three Walmart categories: fuel, groceries, and pharmacies.

Are foods really that expensive?

The prices of the whole foods market have earned the organic grocery store chain nickname Whole paycheck. Although shopping for groceries at whole foods does not usually consume an entire paycheck, its prices are clearly higher on average than the prices available at other grocery shopping places, historically by 15% to 20% more. But now the involvement of amazon, prices at whole foods have been coming down. Moreover, amazon prime customers take special deals and discounts and those people who pay through credit card to amazon prime-branded can receive 5% cash-back on all superstores purchases.

A 2015-16 Market Watch comparison check of grocery stores in Nevada and the san Francisco area, comparing prices between whole foods, Safeway, Target, and Trader joe’s, found whole food prices higher across the board. Bananas, a major consumer fruit item in the produce department, cost an average of 99 cents per pound at whole foods compared to about 0.71$ and 0.81$ a pound at competitors.

In another 2015 study, a straight comparison between whole foods organic products and Walmart Neighborhood markets regular products found a lower average price for Walmart neighborhood markets shopping but a noticeable price difference nevertheless. A comparison of usually 10 purchased organic produce items totaled 11.56$ at whole foods as compared to 9.56$ for the same 10 produce items at Walmart Neighborhood market.

Amazon Vs Walmart

Amazon is one of the biggest online markets in the world with 6.3 million sellers and an incredible increase of 1.5 million active sellers in 2021. Amazon has 3 categories like private label, Fulfilment by amazon, and dropshipping.  But Walmart is giving tough competition to amazon through Walmart Neighborhood markets strategy. Since 2016, Walmart’s marketplace has increased its sellers from 10,000 to 130,000 at the end of 2021. Now Walmart’s marketplace ideology focuses heavily on fresh food, groceries, and other big products and also focuses on how to increase sellers, that’s why they added 5000 new sellers each month. While traditional Walmart stores are spread over a large piece of land, the Walmart Neighborhood markets primarily in urban areas.

Whole Food Market Traders are worried that Walmart Neighborhood Market will disrupt their business, and they’re not the only ones. Whole Foods, who sells organic and natural food, has been in the spotlight for its partnership with Walmart, who is known for selling low-quality produce and processed foods.

Walmart Neighborhood Markets makes it easier for consumers to purchase groceries without going to a store or calling an order in. Retailers like Target, Kroger, Sam’s Club and others have partnered with Walmart to provide same day delivery of groceries. These same retailers also offer delivery services through Uber Eats or Instacart.

The Whole Foods CEO is worried about this new marketplace because it could damage the company’s reputation as an organic grocery chain. The company has recently been trying to better educate its customers on what types of products are safe for them to eat or use on their skin. In addition, Whole Foods has been struggling financially.

It might sound like a contradiction, but it’s not. Amazon and Walmart have different goals in mind when they enter the marketplace business. The former wants to push its own retail brands and products on customers, while the latter wants to sell other people’s products.

This means that while Walmart Marketplace is trying to compete with Whole Foods by offering more affordable prices, Amazon is looking at it as an opportunity to penetrate the grocery market by selling its own brand of products.

Both companies are looking to make it easier for consumers who want to buy groceries on a budget by offering them low prices and convenient delivery options, but with different approaches.
